Every two years, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) is required to hold public meetings in every participating province and allow the public to ask questions and comment. Since 2022, organizations and individuals have attended these meetings to ask the CPPIB about their complicity in Israel’s apartheid, genocide, and illegal occupation. These questions, along with concerns about fossil fuel investments and Indigenous Rights violations, have dominated the meetings. This year has been no different.

So far, CPPIB has hosted meetings in Ottawa and Vancouver. They have been met with legitimate questions and concerns, only to be dismissed with indirect and patronizing responses. In one case, CPPIB leadership walked off stage at 7:00pm while a mother holding her infant was in about to ask question.

And for everyone consider sending another letter which has been updated including pointing out that the CPP now has over $1.2B invested in 19 companies on the UN Data Base (following UN’s most recent update on September 25th).

Let CPP know that investments in 19 companies on UN List is complcity with war crimes!

Every two years, CPP is required to hold stakeholder meetings. The last time was 2024! The 2026 meetings are now scheduled.

Meeting happen this week in Winnipeg and Saskatoon! and are in the four Atlantic provinces later in the month.
