As Easter approaches, Christians around the world prepare to celebrate the coming of their Saviour. Yet, in the birthplace of said Saviour, Christians are persecuted and targeted by the Israeli occupation and apartheid state.
On Palm Sunday, the Israeli police barred church leaders and congregants from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. “The church is located on the site of Jesus’ death and resurrection.” This is obviously both not new and not isolated to Palestinian Christian’s. Israel has and continues to block Palestinian Muslims from accessing al-Aqsa mosque, including during Ramadan and for Eid.
Christian Zionism is not a fringe community. “For every Jewish Zionist, there are 20 or 30 Christian Zionists and therefore Netanyahu knows he needs the Christian, particularly the Christian right in America, Canada, Sweden, Holland and in much of Europe in order to maintain his position and to continue the expansion of the Zionist agenda in Palestine.”
Christian Zionist organizations with charity status are complicit in war crimes and genocide through their funding of entities that support the Israeli military and illegal Israeli settlements. Beyond this many of these “charities” publicly speak of converting Jewish people to Christianity.
There are two ways to take action:
1 | Send a letter to the Canada Revenue Agency asking them to investigate these charities.
2 | Find (on map) and send a letter to organizations in your community who are supporting Christian Zionist charities.
