In the early hours of January 3, 2026 the U.S. Trump administration launched a brutal bombing attack on Venezuela, killing more than 100 people. In a blatant violation of international law, U.S. forces abducted Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, who are now being illegally held in the U.S. This escalation to direct war on Venezuela came after months of U.S. bombing attacks on Venezuelan boats that have killed at least 115 people, and after over 11 years of deadly U.S. sanctions against Venezuela.
Mass mobilizations have erupted in Venezuela, demanding the return of Venezuela’s democratically elected President Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores. Across Canada, 13 cities answered the CWPJN call to action, joining protests world-wide demanding “No War on Venezuela! U.S. Hands off Venezuela! Return President Maduro and Cilia Flores Now!
Join the Canada-Wide Peace & Justice Network’s webinar to discuss Venezuela’s struggle for self-determination against U.S. imperialist attack, and the role of the antiwar movement in defending Venezuela.
