Internship Opportunities

Just Peace Advocates/Mouvement pour une Paix Juste is looking for interns who are passion about social justice, human rights and international law, as it relates to the mandate of Just Peace Advocates’ areas of focus on justice, communication, advocacy, policy and action/campaigns.

Multiple positions are available. These are of interest to those who bring one or more areas of experience including: program development & delivery, research, writing, fund raising, event planning, social media, web design, graphics, media/communications, policy development, legal, labour studies, marketing/branding, grant writing, human resources, finance, administrative and/or information management. These internships are only available to students who are currently in a recognized university or college program where an internship is required for graduation. These are unpaid internships.

By joining the Just Peace Advocates team as an INTERN you will bring your knowledge, skills, and experience alive as you show your leadership in one or more of the following responsibilities:

  • Research issues in areas of human rights, international law, and policy, using credible sources.
  • Review legal and legislative/regulatory aspects of policy work, and make appropriate review and integration
  • Prepare reports and presentations that provide easy access of the information to a variety of audiences and in appropriate mediums
  • Develop and implement a creative, professional website and social media plan and accompanying products including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and other platforms
  • Develop, research, and implement a sustainable fund raising strategy to support donations both on-going and through special appeals
  • Develop marketing and outreach materials required, including appropriate branding and messaging
  • Research, analyze, make recommendations, and develop plan for grant proposals
  • Write compelling, well researched, grant proposals in support of Just Peace Advocates’ areas of focus that will result in attracting grants internationally and from within Canada
  • Establish a media monitoring and response process, and oversee the communications strategy implementation including media relations, writing media releases and other communications products
  • Secretariat functions for policy and program advocacy
  • Designing and implementing administrative functions related to information, human and financial resources
  • Copy editing and translation

  • Strong listening and verbal skills, as well as presentation skills
Technical skills, experience and passion in one or more of the following areas:

Policy, research, legal, social media/web-content and technology, fund raising, grant writing, event planning, administration, human resources, finance, information management, media/communications, marketing/branding, graphics, writing/copy editing, translation

Bonus: Ability to write and speak French, Arabic or other languages; experience in using WordPress software including implementation
