Stop subsidizing Zionist para-military charities in Canada

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has granted charitable status to Magen Herut Canada (MHC) and Shomrim Toronto, two organization with questionable background, ties and purposes to Israel, a state which actively practices apartheid and genocide.

Being granted charitable status normally requires lengthy research and rigorous vetting because it is seen as a “stamp of approval” by the Canadian state and allows tax-deductible receipts to be issued for donations which in effect are subsidized by Canadian taxpayers.

Charity status makes every Canadian responsible and complicit in the actions of these two organizations which operate as private/public ethnic security forces or para-police presence – practically-speaking vigilante groups. See “The Rise of Zionist Vigilante Groups in Canada,” a 2024 CJPME report.

Imagine if a Palestinian or Arab or Muslim or other ethnic group providing security would be granted charity status? Matthew Light, a professor of criminology at University of Toronto said to CJNews, “A good question to ask yourself as a citizen would be: How would I feel about some group that I strongly disapproved of doing the same thing?” So why do these two self-proclaimed Zionist organizations get privileged tax treatment?

Please take a minute to demand that the CRA immediately review and suspend the status of MHC and Shomrim Toronto and their ability to grant tax-deductible receipts which amount to Canadian taxpayers subsidizing apartheid and genocide in Palestine and also the rise of dangerous extrajudicial security in Canada outside of accepted and legitimate security channels.

Formal submissions have been made to the CRA calling for an audit towards suspension or revocation of charity status of both MHC and Shomrim Toronto.
