URGENT: PM Carney just announced 8 countries on board to launch the DSRB war bank with Canada.
However, despite aggressive promotion at and ahead of the 36th NATO Summit in Ankara, Carney failed to get support from any G7 countries or large NATO members — the DSRB NATO launch was a political embarrassment. That makes this the perfect moment to ramp up our opposition to this bank and ensure it never gets off the ground.
This new financial institution, the first of its kind, is designed to fund and accelerate a global arms race and funnel public money directly to arms manufacturers.
We reject the war bank — not in Toronto, not in Canada, not on this planet.
Most Canadians have never heard of the new international war bank–the so-called Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB)–but this institution, dedicated to financing war, has been in the works for years and Canada is set to host the global headquarters.
The DSRB will funnel public funds directly to arms manufacturers, ensuring massive military build-up. It will make it easier to bypass regulations and public opposition to Canada’s military support for genocide and repressive regimes. We reject Canada’s commitment to profiteering from perpetual war in the guise of economic development.
